JAMES L. HEPPELL, L.L.B. is Chairman of the Board. He was Chairman of the Board from September 1999 to May 2007 and has been a director since September 1994. He is President and a fund manager of BC Advantage Funds (VCC) Ltd., a venture fund that invests in British Columbia life science and technology companies. Mr. Heppell was a founding partner, president and chief executive officer of Vancouver-based Catalyst Corporate Finance Lawyers, which has been sold to another law firm. He is a director or officer of several biotechnology companies. Mr. Heppell is the Managing Director - Western Canada for Gold Medal Plates, a partner of the Canadian Olympic Committee focused on raising money for the Canadian Olympic Committee Excellence Fund. Mr. Heppell has an L.L.B. and Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia.
